Who we are

The International Christmas Market is organised by Angelique Fletcher, a sole trader based in Alcobaça, Portugal, trading as The International Christmas Market. You can contact us about your personal data at info@internationalchristmasmarket.com.

02

What information we collect

  • Newsletter signups: your first name, email address, and the date, time and wording of your consent.
  • Vendor accounts and interest records: your name, business name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, category, a description of what you sell, and your Instagram or website.
  • Sponsor enquiries: your name, business name, email, phone number, website, the option you're interested in and your message.
  • Contact form messages: your name, email address, the topic and your message.
  • Ticket purchases and admission: buyer name, email, phone, optional NIF, adult and child quantities, order and payment references, ticket codes, QR admission tokens and check-in status and time. Stripe processes payment details; we do not store card numbers. QR pictures are generated on our own website.
  • Vendor applications: business details, your NIF, and where relevant, business registration, licences, permits and insurance details, plus photos of your products. When your application includes helper or assistant names, we hold these solely for market-day venue access and safety coordination. Documents you upload to the vendor portal — such as commercial registration, liability insurance, food hygiene registrations and signed stall agreements — are held in secure, private storage that only you and the organiser can access. We do not ask for copies of identity documents such as passports or citizen cards.

Our magic mirror photo booth prints souvenir photos on the spot for guests to take home. We do not collect, retain or publish guests' photo booth pictures online.

03

Why we use it

To send you updates you've asked for, to fulfil ticket purchases and check admission, to process vendor applications and sponsorships, to reply to your messages, and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

04

Our legal basis

  • Your consent, for updates and contact.
  • Steps needed to enter into an agreement with you, for ticket purchases, vendor applications and sponsorships.
  • Legal obligations, for tax and licensing records.
05

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run the website and our communications: our website hosting and database provider, our email provider, Stripe for payment processing, and beehiiv, which we use to send our newsletter. Where required by law, we may share information with the relevant authorities.

06

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Vendor interest registrations: two years, so we can invite you back next year.
  • Sponsor enquiries: two years.
  • Contact messages: one year.
  • Ticket contact and admission records: 90 days after the market. Invoice and tax records are retained separately for as long as Portuguese law requires.
  • Vendor applications, agreements and payment records: for as long as Portuguese tax law requires.
07

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy of it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, for example by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by writing to us. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

08

Cookies and browser storage

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies — no Google Analytics, Meta pixel or third-party advertising tools. It only uses essential local browser storage to remember your language preference and to keep vendors signed in to the portal, which is why no cookie consent banner is shown.

09

Keeping your data safe

Your information is stored securely with access restricted to the organiser and authorised service providers as needed to operate the service.
